A delicious old-fashioned dessert that’s perfect for using up stale bread. This version uses raisin bread and dried cranberries for extra flavor.
Instructions
- In a bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and salt
- Place bread cubes in a greased 8x8” pan
- Sprinkle with cranberries over top
- Pour egg mixture over top
- Bake in a preheated 325°F oven for about 40-45 minutes or until knife inserted in centre comes out clean
- Cool slightly
- Serve with whipped cream on top and sprinkle with cinnamon
Variation
Use plain white bread and add 1/3-cup raisins
