Braised Ginger Hoisin Pot Roast

Pot roast flavoured with ginger, hoisin sauce, garlic, brown sugar and soy sauce

This delicious pot roast is flavoured with Asian-inspired ingredients including ginger, hoisin sauce, garlic, brown sugar and soy sauce. Perfect for the slow cooker!

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle beef with pepper
  2. In a large shallow Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat
  3. Brown beef on all sides
  4. Transfer to slow cooker
  5. Drain fat from pot and add onion, garlic, and ginger to pot
  6. Fry over medium heat, stirring occasionally until onion is softened, about 2 minutes
  7. Add the hoisin sauce, beef stock, brown sugar, soy sauce and 1/4-cup water
  8. Stir & scrape up the brown bits; pour over beef
  9. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is tender
  10. Transfer meat to cutting board and tent with aluminum foil
  11. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing across the grain
  12. Cover and keep warm
  13. Meanwhile, skim the fat from the liquid in the slow cooker
  14. Whisk flour with 1/4-cup water
  15. Whisk into slow cooker
  16. Cover and cook on high, stirring once, for 15 minutes or until thickened
  17. Serve with beef
