A delicious bar flavoured with almond paste and almond extract and topped with slivered almonds.
Instructions
- Line a 13x9 metal cake pan with parchment paper; set aside
- To make beating the almond paste easier, microwave on low just enough to warm
- Don’t let it get hot or it will melt the butter when added
- In a bowl, beat butter with almond paste until smooth
- Beat in sugar, salt and almond extract until fluffy
- Using a wooden spoon, stir in flour until combined
- Press into pan
- Sprinkle with almonds and press lightly into the dough
- Bake in middle of 300°F oven until light golden, about 50 minutes (no longer)
- Let cool completely in pan on wire rack
